Festival Memberships and Shop

To witness the full Shetland Folk Festival Experience, membership of the Shetland Folk Festival Society (SFFS) is probably required! Only SFFS members are permitted access to the fantastic Festival Club and members purchase their concert tickets at a considerably reduced rate.

Festival Membership Costs

£13 for an adult
£6 for a child (under 18 on the first day of the festival)
£26 for a family (consisting of two adults and 2 under 18s)

Membership entitles you to gain entry into the Festival Club (numbers permitting) and purchase discounted price tickets. SFFS members will, on average, pay £4 less for each concert ticket purchased. Ticket prices for SFFS members will range between £7 and £13. (Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable).

2008 essential dates

11 January – Advance Membership form will be available for download on website and/or to cut out in The Shetland Times
29th February – Deadline for SFFS receiving Advance Membership applications
14th March – Advance members will be sent their membership receipts and ticket booking form in the post. Overseas members will receive their booking form by email, if requested.
4th April – Combined programme and membership/ticket booking form available to all in The Shetland Times and for download on the website

Advance membership is encouraged. From 11th January 2008 and until the 29th February 2008 it is possible to apply for an advance membership. The main advantage of being an advance member is that the programme and ticket ordering form will be sent out to you three weeks before becoming available to the general public (i.e. non-SFFS members!) Since concert tickets are in high demand, advance membership is becoming increasingly popular. However, please note that all tickets are sold on a strictly first come first serve basis. Due to high demand, even some advance members will not be able to purchase tickets originally requested.

Tickets

The 2008 ticket ordering form will be available to the general public on 4th April 2008. From this date, you’ll be able to download it from our website and a copy will be included in every Shetland Times on Friday 4th April. Advanced members will receive their booking form around the 14th March.

We ask you to complete and return your ticket ordering form to the Shetland Folk Festival Society, 5 Burns Lane, Lerwick, Shetland, ZE1 0EJ as soon as possible after you have received it. Alternatively you can Fax it to us on +44(0)1595 695381. Each form is date stamped the day it is received and the forms are processed in that order. We ask you to provide a contact telephone number on the ticket ordering form so that we can phone you if there is a problem with the tickets originally requested, payment method and so on.

All major credit cards, Switch (Maestro) card and cheques are accepted.

Please note that we do not take ticket bookings over the phone or via email - you are required to complete the ticket ordering form and return it to us - except for over the counter ticket purchases from the Festival shop (opening details below).

Concessions are available to senior citizens (over 60), children, students and those in receipt of social security benefit, income support or Job seekers allowance (proof required)

The shop in 5 Burns Lane Lerwick will be open for over the counter ticket purchases between 17th-26th April 2008 (Thursdays and Saturdays only – check back for opening times)

On the 1st May, the Festival Shop shall move to Islesburgh Community Centre for the weekend and will be open between 11am-5pm.

Membership wristbands

Members of the SFFS will receive a membership receipt which they should keep and take to the Festival Club during Festival dates and exchange for a membership wristband. Wristbands can be obtained at the following times (to be confirmed) and our volunteer stewards shall be on the door to assist you with this process. Please note, you must keep on your membership wristband the whole weekend to ensure repeat access to the Festival Club. No wristband - No Entry!

Please note at certain peak times, the Festival Club may have restrictions on entry due to fire regulations.
