Let's Circus
Shetland Folk Festival is delighted to showcase Let’s Circus as part of their programme for 2017. They are a Contemporary British Circus company made up of International Artists from across the globe. The company tours with a circus school at the heart of their activities, along with a fantastic all-ages show.
The performing artists at the festival will include Witty Look (Japan), Duo OneFace (Kenya), Matthew Tiffany (Yorkshire) and Ringmaster Steve Cousins (Australia) aka The Balloonatic.
Witty Look
Witty Look are comic duo Clown Cheeky and Daiki Izumida, from Tokyo Japan. Along with being a Guinness world record holding and former world champion Unicyclist, Daiki is an inventor and creator of the 5 wheeled pentacycle. Matching up with clown, director and comedienne Cheeky, the duo has won awards and accolades across the globe.
Duo OneFace
Duo OneFace are identical twins Moses Opiyo and Francis Odongo from Nakuru Kenya. Having overcome adversity in their early lives as orphaned street kids, Moses and Francis were talent spotted and won a scholarship at the Chinese Wuqiou Acrobatic Circus School. They continued to rise as the premier double act in Kenya before being invited to join the team at Let’s Circus. They are a highly skilled acrobatic duo, jugglers, dancers and aerialists.
Matthew Tiffany
Matthew Tiffany is not your average music teacher. With a Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year Award to his name, he is the kind of guy that juggles five objects, bounces balls on his head, spins rings around his body, plays a fiddle backwards and walks on top of a freestanding ladder. With jokes and physical comedy too, Matthew’s wonderfully varied shows are a success in front of any audience.
Steve Cousins
Australian Steve Cousins, aka The Balloonatic is no stranger to the Shetland Folk Festival having performed and delivered workshops in 2015. He uses balloons and a playful imagination to take the ‘Watch me twist this balloon into a dog’ scenario to a ridiculous new level! He climbs inside a balloon in a zany routine that is a celebration of silliness. Using audience participation, volunteer routines and clowning he creates comedy of genuine appeal to all ages.
With exhilarating performances and fun-filled workshops, we are certain that Let’s Circus is going to be a fantastic and welcome addition to this year’s itinerary.
