Ten Strings and a Goat Skin

Ten Strings and a Goat Skin

Young acoustic trio Ten Strings and a Goat Skin from Canada’s Prince Edward Island is a trad/world/folk/fusion powerhouse who create a fiery and infectious sound which invariably leaves audiences wanting more.

Singing in both French and English, Ten Strings And A Goat Skin transform tradition with vigour, curiosity and sparks of goofy humour. They perform Irish, Acadian, French, Scottish and original material infused with wickedly current grooves and clever quirks, and infusing them with modern and world rhythms. Their unique sound and taut vocal harmonies has led to the band’s rapid rise on the folk circuit and a plethora of music awards, including the 2015 ECMA award for World Music - despite only being in their early twenties.  The trio (Jesse Périard on guitar, Caleb Gallant on percussion and Rowen Gallant on strings) who never forget their powerful ties to the music of their home island, have been making some serious waves in North America and beyond. Their ‘intoxicating’ and ‘refreshing’ original music maintains solid traditional elements yet explores rich world flavours, and seems to be working a treat for them and their audiences! We are delighted to welcome them to the Shetland Folk Festival.
