Da AnnLynn Sessions

Da AnnLynn Sessions

This ALL female line-up are making their 2nd appearance at the Shetland Folk Festival. Da AnnLynn Sessions came about in 2022 when the pandemic was easing off and a likeminded bunch of women wanted to dust off their vocals and instruments and decided to play some “good old country tunes” (and some that are not so old!)

The group have been getting together regularly around the kitchen table since the summer of 2022, singing songs , drinking tea, eating fancies and having a good old natter. They have played a number of events over the last 18 months including among them the "Peerie Christmas spree" at Muckle Roe in 2022, Sail Yell and recently supported Dean Owens and the Sinners in November.

The line-up consists of Karlyn Garrick (Kansa), Megan Nisbet (Lauren & Megan), Jennifer Christie, Leanne Johnson, Jacqui Brown (Sheepdip) and Diane Wood (Sheepdip). The group have a lot of musical experience among them and are experimenting with lots of songs and tunes they collectively like, inspired by singers like Suzie Bogguss, Nanci Griffith, The Chicks and Shania Twain to name but a few.   Writing some of their own material too, this is a group that ultimately like to have a lot of fun and not take it too seriously.

The AnnLynn Sessions are very much looking forward to the festival and audience members can expect a varied set of songs and tunes with a country feel and a strong focus on harmonies on both vocal and fiddle.
