Rooted in the traditional music of Shetland, Amy explores the music of her homeland alongside traditional and folk music from Scotland, Ireland and Scandinavia. Growing up surrounded by classical music, she has developed a unique style which fuses traditional, classical and jazz elements. Having recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a First Class Honours degree in Traditional Music, Amy is passionate about exploring and redefining the piano as a solo instrument while challenging its more prominent role as an accompanying instrument.
Amy is a pianist with the up-and-coming Scandi/Scottish folk band Tern, and is also a member of Live Music Now Scotland with duo partner and guitarist Miguel Girão. As well as appearing at our Young Musician of the Year Winners concert, Amy will also perform at various points over the weekend with fellow musicians from her band Tern (who will be this year's resident Festival Club musicians)
