Macanta
From Shetland, to the Isle of Harris, Isle of Mull and Glasgow, each member of Macanta brings a diverse musical style and heritage together to form their unique sound: an infusion of folk, celtic, and Americana. Terry Balfour and Dòl Eoin MacKinnon met in Glasgow 10 years ago and only in the last few years have been making music together.
The combination of Shetland-inspired playing ability and Gaelic-inspired songwriting have brought the band to the attention of the likes of DJs Vic Galloway and Jim Gellatly. In the summer of 2013 they were invited to perform on BBC music show, Rapal, as Vic Galloways favourite up-and-coming artists, and selected to play at the Tiree Music Festival by Jim Gellatly. Since then they have played music festivals in Portugal, London and Skye.
