The Sojourners

The Sojourners

Music to make you smile and even make a music loving atheist have second thoughts, the first class gospel act features the fantastic vocals of Marcus Mosely, Will Sanders and Khari McClelland who hail from Texas, Louisiana and Michigan respectively. Now based in Vancouver, The Sojourners have that authentic edge that only comes with experience.

Formative years spent singing in the churches of Marcus Mosely, Will Sanders and Khari McClelland (from Texas, Louisiana and Michigan respectively) give The Sojourners sound an authentic edge that only comes with experience.  As leader Marcus Moseley explains, “this is real gospel, blessed with a soul that can’t be faked.  It’s music for the sinners or the saved, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey!”

Formed in 2006 after performing as backing singers for Canadian blues icon Jim Byrnes, this Vancouver based act have since released three albums as well as received a steady stream of invitations to contribute to the recordings and live performances of a diverse range of artists.  The Sojourners have worked with such eminent artists such as the Dixie Hummingbirds, Dr John and The Blind Boys of Alabama.

Their debut CD Hold On was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award while their second album (simply entitled The Sojourners) was nominated for a Juno Award in 2011 and won a Western Canadian Music Award. Their third album, Sing and Never Get Tired was released in October last year, taking the band on the next leg of their journey, speaking about the issues of our time as they sing out for justice and freedom.

As one reviewer stated, “it’s impossible to listen to The Sojourners without smiling” whilst another commented that it’s ….”enough to make a music-loving atheist have second thoughts….”

To celebrate their visit to Shetland, we've decided to organise a dedicated Gospel concert as part of the 34th Shetland Folk Festival featuring The Sojourners and local Gospel musicians.  Watch this space for more info.
