Soothmoothers

The quintet of Kirsty North,Gemma Graham, Sarah and Catherine Brown, and Adam Guest formed Soothmoothers for Shetland Folk Festival 2013. Meeting each other in Shetland, but hailing from various parts of the ‘Sooth Mooth’, the name seemed quite apt!

Kirsty (clarsach), Sarah and Catherine (both fiddle and voice) were all raised on the rich culture of the Feisean movement. Gemma (fiddle and voice) brings classical and Shetland musical influences to the group, hailing from Fife.

Adam (guitar and voice), originally from Barnsley, is a regular at open mic nights and sessions, as well as playing support slots with the likes of Adam Holmes, Devon Sproule and Declan O' Rourke.  A singer-songwriter, Adam’s debut album ‘Open the Book’ was launched in December 2014.

The group plays a mixture of Celtic music infused with original compositions.
