Visitors
Andy Kinnear, Cha Johnson and Chris Grant formed Visitors through sharing music at local Singer Songwriter and Open Mic nights in late 2015. Kinnear hails from Fife and has made Shetland his home, Grant moved north from Glasgow, with Johnson settling from the Philippines.
“We started by writing songs about moving to Shetland and the relationships we’ve found here. It was an opportunity to sit down and expand our own playing with people that were in a similar situation” says Kinnear.
“Everyone in Shetland has a story of how and why they are there,” says Grant. “Visitors is about sharing those stories from our ‘outsider’ perspective, seeing how we’ve interpreted living here – what we have in common and also the personal impact moving to Shetland has had.”
Cha Johnson, who is slowly getting used to the weather has also found the band has been about forming new friendships. “Meeting up with the guys every week has been a great bonding process, we’re all finding common ground that’s forging a great friendship and also each bringing our own angle to the sound of the band.”
With gentle and complex harmonies, a broad range of voices and 3 guitars Visitors have brought a unique sound and story to Shetland.
