The Maes

Multi-award-winning Melbourne-based contemporary folk outfit, The Maes—founded by sisters Maggie and Elsie Rigby—is a dynamic force in Australia’s folk music scene. With roots that reach deep into the heart of the Australian folk community, Maggie and Elsie grew up side-stage, absorbing the festival atmosphere from just four weeks old.

The Maes have toured extensively across Australia and internationally, gracing the stages of world-renowned festivals such as Woodford and Port Fairy Folk Festivals in Australia, Canada’s Edmonton and Vancouver Folk Festivals, and legendary UK Festivals such as Cambridge Folk Festival, Celtic Connections and the Orkney Folk Festival in 2018.

Praised for their intricate arrangements, striking song writing, and seamless harmonies, The Maes bring an authenticity and warmth to every performance. For audiences seeking heartfelt stories woven with intricate melodies, The Maes deliver a timeless folk experience that’s as genuine as it is unforgettable.

Alongside Maggie and Elsie, they will be travelling to Shetland will bass player Isaac Gunnoo. The Maes went down a storm with Orkney audiences back in 2018 and we're sure that Shetlanders will absolutley love them too!
