Jennifer McCormick

Jennifer McCormick lives and works as a modern language teacher on the beautiful island of Unst in Shetland but spent most of her life in Glasgow. She grew up listening to an eclectic mix of music including classical, jazz, modern and her personal favorite, folk, all of which helped her find her voice.

As a youngster she had some great success at Glasgow music festivals and won several awards for her singing. She studied classical singing under some of Scotland's best vocal coaches at the RSAMD and along with the help of supportive school music teachers, she was able to pursue her love of singing as she developed her own unique vocal style. Before moving to Unst she worked as a jazz singer in a variety of bars and restaurants around Scotland where she has delighted her listeners with her own interpretations of the music she loves.

Jennifer often says that her favourite place to sing is in Unst, where often she joins many local musicians in concerts and jam sessions performing to an ever- appreciative local crowd. Although an accomplished singer, Jennifer still considers herself a student of music and loves to listen to and learn from more experienced musicians including her friends and accompanists Alice Mullay and Jonathan Ritch. The Jennifer McCormick Trio are three musicians living in Shetland that draw on their love of music and their individual musical styles and influences to complement each other beautifully on piano, guitar and voice. Alice, Jonathan and Jennifer work well together to create their own acoustic interpretations of music they love and have great fun doing it.
