Fiddlers' Bid
Fiddlers Bid are internationally respected as leading exponents of their rich fiddle tradition and are global ambassadors for Shetland.
Fresh from creating possibly Shetland’s finest ever Hogmanay party, Fiddlers Bid are making a welcome return to the Shetland Folk Festival to mark the 25th Anniversary of their debut festival appearance at the Hamnavoe Hall in 1992. Since then, they have established an identity as a unique band with a harmonious and symphonic sound developed through many years of playing together. The musical tornado known as Fiddlers Bid have a magnetic four fiddle frontline of Shetland’s finest – Chris Stout, Kevin Henderson, Andrew Gifford and Maurice Henderson – joined with Scotland’s dynamic harpist Catriona McKay, a powerhouse rhythm section of ace Irish musician and guitarist Sean O Graham, and top Newcastle bassist Neil Harland to create a “display of stunning virtuosity”. With feathers in their cap including Winner of Album of the Year at the MG Alba Scots Traditional Music Awards, and the highly coveted Spiral Earth’s Instrumental Album of the Year, they have a lot to be proud of. It has been 7 years since Fiddlers Bid last performed at the festival (2010) and we cannot wait to welcome them to the stage once more!
