Rooted in the tradition of bluegrass and making their debut UK performance at the Shetland Folk Festival, The Lonely Heartstring Band is a Boston based acoustic quintet that creates a unique blend of old and new styles.
Since their beginnings in 2012, The Lonely Heartstring Band has been on the rise and shows no sign of slowing down which was reflected in their achievement of an IBMA Momentum Award in 2015. Nourished by deep roots in the expansive canon of traditional American music, this multi-talented group of musicians is a classic bluegrass quintet—always far greater than the sum of its parts. Combining soulful instrumental virtuosity with soaring three-part harmonies, their growing repertoire of original songs and compositions showcases not only their considerable talents, but a dedication to meaningful roots-conscious music. Over the last four years of touring, the band has crafted shows that generate a genuine connection and bring crowds to their feet. The band - George Clements (guitar, vocals), Patrick M’Gonigle (fiddle, vocals), Matt Witler (mandolin, vocals), Gabe Hirshfield (banjo) and Charles Clements (bass, vocals) – have recently been signed by Rounder Records and released their debut album ‘Deep Waters’ last spring. The Lonely Heartstring Band always delivers a dynamic, diverse, and heartfelt performance, and we cannot wait to witness it.
