Pharis and Jason Romero
Multi award-winning Canadian musicians and celebrated instrument makers Pharis and Jason Romero from British Columbia sing vibrant duets, write deadly songs, play handmade banjos and love old acoustic guitars!
Since they were randomly brought together in 2007 by some old scratchy records and a custom banjo, Pharis and Jason have released six records, toured across North America and the UK, and won some prestigious awards along the way! Their latest album release (their first made up entirely of original songs) earned Pharis the title of ‘Traditional Singer of the Year’ at the 2018 Canadian Folk Music Awards, and the duo the title of ‘Vocal Group of the Year’. Their previous album won a Juno award, a West Canadian Music Award and was nominated for an International Folk Music Award among others.
Their influences from early 1920s jazz, blues and country to 60s songwriters is coupled with their love of old music and rural life to create heartbreakingly harmonic live performances.
