Les Fils Canouche

Making their UK debut at the Shetland Folk Festival, French quartet Les Fils Canouche have been delivering their own quirky fusion of gypsy jazz and world music since their formation in 2005.

The atypical mix of virtuoso bass clarinet, soaring accordion, wild rhythmic guitar and double bass come together to create the unique sound of Les Fils Canouche in a performance that is full of humour and emotion. 13 sparkling years on stage and over 600 concerts throughout Europe have forged a union of jazz explorers that blur musical and temporal boundaries for the pure pleasure of gypsy swing. You can expect anything from modern Django, resurrected Piazzollas, spirited tangos, five-stroke waltzes or even a gypsy rumba – all delivered in their own original style!

The band has recorded 4 albums to date, and the members are Xavier Margogne (founder member and guitar player), Samuel Thézé (clarinet), Maxime Perrin (accordion) and Stéphane Cozic (double bass).

We know how Shetland audiences love their gypsy jazz so with Les Fils Canouche, Festival goers are in for a real treat!

Bouger en Mayenne

An invigorating quartet

La Montagne

With great power and elegance, the compositions of Les Fils Canouche take root in the nostalgic landscapes of Kusturica and Django Reinhardt. They have gold in their veins and in their words.

Le Dauphiné

They blur musical borders and entangle them in a bubbling alchemy.
