A message fae da Committee

We are getting in touch to confirm that we are postponing the 40th Shetland Folk Festival again due to the international pandemic and its subsequent measures.

A provisional date has been set for April 28th - May 1st 2022, however details will be only be confirmed when we can be confident an event that reflects the scale, international reach and community inclusion of our festival can happen.

While two years with no festival may seem dispiriting for many of our supporters, our priority remains keeping our community as safe as we can while ensuring the long-term future of the event.

We have kept options open for the last few months and consulted various stakeholders while we assessed if a festival could happen in various circumstances.

However, it was unanimously decided that in the current climate it is simply too unpredictable to plan and deliver an international music event for thousands of attendees in a few months time and by making this decision now, we can be more confident the festival will survive and thrive for years to come.

As previously arranged, anyone holding membership for 2021 will automatically have it carried forward for 2022.

In the meantime we would like to thank everyone in our community for their resilience and to those who are working tirelessly for us all in these tough times.

We hope people can still find a way to celebrate folk festival acts (past, present and future) by continuing to appreciate and invest in music.

While the last year has shown us you can’t take anything for granted, we can be pretty certain the next Folk Festival is going to be well worth waiting for!

Tak Care,

Da Committee
