Dwaam (Folk Festival Spree Band!)

A Spree Band formed especially for this year's Folk Festival, Dwaam aims to get people filsket, frenzied and up on their feet as part of the Scots on da Rock - Spanging Spree night at Clickimin on Folk fest Friday.

Although this may be Shetland's newest folk act, a glance of their members suggests something familiar yet something curiously special with Bongshang, Hom Bru, Haltadans, First Foot Soldiers all represented along with other exceedingly talented musicians - thirteen in all.

While they have been working away and keeping their sound a secret till the night of the performance, its not hard to get excited  when you imagine a super group of some of Shetland's best spree bands over the years. All we can guarantee is a combination of classic reworkings and brand new sets to get everyone spanging. Hopefully this won't be the last time you see them all on stage together but maybe better not to take that chance!

The members are Hom Bru's Gary Peterson (banjo and mandolin), Robert Balfour (drums), Arthur Nicolson (guitar and vocals) and Chris Thomson (Keyboard) from First Foot Soldiers, Haltadans' Grant Nicol (guitar), Maurice Henderson (fiddle), Ewen Thomson (fiddle) and Lois Nicol (fiddle), Kenny Johnson (mandolin), Callum Nicolson (accordion) and making their return to a folk festival stage for the first time since 1997, Bongshang's Peter Gear (fiddle), JJ Jamieson (5 string banjo) and Bryan Peterson (bass).
