Elsbeth Clark

Shetland-born singer/songwriter Elsbeth Clark has performed at concerts and events across Shetland for many years. She is well known for her humorous songs, where she strikes a chord (but not necessarily an F chord) with many audience members through her comical observations on everyday life.

Audience participation is a hallmark of Elsbeth’s performances – whether yahooing to “Country from my armchair” or joining in with the chorus of “Wansie Woo.” You will not only be watching the show but very much part of it.

Elsbeth’s debut album “Pavlova Supernova” with guitar accompaniment by Brian Nicholson was released in December 2016. Featured on her debut album, "Country from my armchair" is a mock country song telling the story of a Shetland man who dreams of going country from his armchair. The lingo gets more countrified as the song gallops along signifying the Shetlander to cow-boy transformation.  You can click on the link in the right sidebar to hear a clip of this song.(Elsbeth wants to acknowlwdge Brian Nicholson on guitar on this track).

Elsbeth insists on Audience Participation, so she says you have to put on your home-made cow-boy hat and join in with the three "Yee Haas" of the chorus. Each chorus ends with an elongation of the word chair so sing along and sway. So much fun to be had.
