Fiddle Finale

Fiddle Finale was formed initially about 17 years ago but the group changes a little every year as students move on and leave for university or further education.

At present we have 7 fiddles, a cello, and the very recent addition of a flute has added an additional dimension to our music. Our repertoire includes music from Shetland, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Scandinavia, and even beyond.  We like to perform music as a tribute to, or in memory of, someone.  In recent times we played an arrangement of the beautiful slow air written in memory of Shetland Folk Festival's own Davie Henderson, and this year we are going to play a slow air written by the late Pam Brough, who played here many times with the Ian Powrie Scottish Dance Band.  Her ashes were scattered in Lerwick Harbour recently while this tune was being played as a solo – we are writing a special arrangement for our group.  We hope you enjoy listening to our music as much as we enjoy playing it!
