As previous Festival-goers will concur, The Chair onstage is an experience that will have even the most reserved audience beating a path to the dance floor. With Orcadian tunes at the core of the sound but mashed up with blues, dub and klezmer, they are a true party band that we’re simply addicted to. Voted Band of the Year at the 2008 MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, this will be The Chair’s fourth Shetland Folk Festival appearance.
Formed 10 years ago to fill a gap in the schedule at the 2004 Orkney Folk Festival, the group has been bringing its unique frenzy to events the length and breadth of the country ever since. Last year saw the release of The Chair’s much anticipated second album, “The Road to Hammer Junkie” as the follow-up to their hugely successful debut album, “Huinka”.
