The Revellers
Hailing from the Shetland Islands, the 7-piece folk/rock outfit combine fiddle, mandolin and banjo melodies with heavy metal, punk, and alternative rock rhythm to produce something a bit different. They started out as a covers band in 2007 (originally with Andrew Clubb on guitar and Craig Birnie on bass) but their sound and ideas grew as they began to write their own material with influences ranging from Metallica to Lau, via The Clash and a touch of Iron Maiden.
Described by many as one of the most entertaining acts to hail from the North, the band are praised for their energetic live shows and stage antics back home, and have also started touring and playing festivals on the Scottish ‘Mainland’ to great acclaim while supporting acts such Big Country, The Chair and The Levellers.
The band were the first to sell-out Shetland’s new multi-million pound music venue, Mareel, and the first to record in the venue’s studio. In 2013, the band released their self-penned debut album, ‘Renegades’ and plans are afoot to record new material soon.
