Funders and Sponsors

The Shetland Folk Festival relies on core funding and the kind generosity of sponsors and donators every year for the quality and diversity of the event and the many benefits it brings to communities throughout Shetland. In particular, funding often supports our desire to progress youth development opportunities for Shetland's up and coming musicians, as well as ensuring that our event can be as inclusive and accessible as possible.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Shetland Folk Festival Committee recognises that sponsorship is a significantly important way to maintain and develop the quality and diversity for which the Festival is known worldwide. We are keen to discuss how sponsorship can be made to best work for businesses and are willing to consider tailoring sponsorship packages to particular needs.

Every year, the Festival has general sponsors as well as businesses who prefer to sponsor a specific event, project or even visiting band!

Without the kind generosity of our sponsors, the Shetland Folk Festival could not continue to enjoy its worldwide renown.

Youth Programming and Community Projects

As well as the main Festival programming, we rely on Sponsorship and Funding to deliver the community outreach elements of our Festival and the youth development opportunities that are regularly part of our core aspirations.

In 2025, we delivered the ambitious Shetland Kaustinen Tune exchange project but alongside projects, we try to deliver school concerts, early years activities, and other events targeted at younger members of the Shetland populace and for adults and young people with additional support needs.

Previous educational projects through the years have included the Trans-Nordic educational project, Nordic Tone and in 2026, we'll be focusing on the Stirling Queen Commission with Tim Kliphuis.

Projects like these are extremely valuable for the ongoing development of our prestigious event.

Raffle Contributors

The Festival relies on fundraising over the weekend to help meet the costs of staging the event - including through sale of merchandise and by staging raffles. We are extremely grateful for any raffle donations that businesses may be able to put forward and concert goers are able to participate by purchasing raffle tickets during the concerts! We thank you in advance for your support.

If you are able to donate a prize, please send an email for the attention of Lisa Johnson to [email protected].
