Their debut album showcased a bold musical range that sets them apart from others, calling on genre influences from roots/Americana, country twang, 50s doo-wop, modern pop and rock ‘n’ roll. Following the success of this, they soon won Rockygrass’ Best New Band Competition.
With their finger on the pulse, The Railsplitters are pushing the bluegrass genre forward with an adventurous spirit, carrying on the tradition of breaking boundaries with their innovative sound. Their secret weapon is twofold: first, the innovative imagination of banjo player Dusty Rider’s song-writing, and second, the powerfully distinct vocals of Lauren Stovall. In addition, newest band member Christine King’s superb fiddling adds a driving force to the band’s sound. The masterfully executed mandolin playing of Peter Sharpe is well supported by upright bassist Leslie Ziegler’s innovative style.
Though they operate with the instrumentation of a bluegrass band, The Railsplitters are making music totally unlimited by tradition. This is music for the open road, the open dance floor, and open ears.

They use both to make them, without a doubt, one of the best bluegrass bands to emerge in the last few years
