Northmavine Fiddle & Accordion Club
Northmavine Fiddle and Accordion Club formed in September 1982 with the aim of getting folk in the area together to enjoy playing traditional Shetland music. Tammy Anderson, probably one of the most famous of all Shetland fiddlers, and originally from Eshaness, was so excited when he heard about the club that he promptly sent a tune that had come to him as he did the washing up.
The tune was named The Northmavine March. The club continues to meet most Tuesday nights in the Hillswick Hall for a session and young players are encouraged to join in. The club also performs at many local events and play for many a lively dance. Quite a few of the clubs musicians past and present have written tunes which the group perform. They welcome anyone who wishes to visit for a tune or to listen to their music.
