Hò-rò’s performances entail a combination of traditional Highland, west coast tunes and modern Scottish compositions in a contemporary and lively style. Their energetic and upbeat music has deep roots in the rich musical traditions of the backgrounds of the members who hail from the Outer Hebrides, Argyll, Inverness, Lochaber, and the Isle of Lewis.
Hò-rò won the Danny Kyle award at Celtic Connections in 2014 and have graced stages at musical festivals across Scotland and several parts of Europe. With a line-up that features bagpipes, border pipes, accordion, fiddle, whistles, guitar, keyboards, drums, and bodhran, Hò-rò produce a set that features rich musical textures. This instrumental mix is complemented further by the unbeatable poetry of Gaelic song, and the whole combination has led to them laying claim to the Up and Coming Artist of the Year title at the BBC Scots Trad Awards last year.
Sharing some tremendous Highland craic is at the centre of their performances, and our Folk Festival audiences can look forward to a fun-filled and energetic atmosphere!
