Laldy are a rising force on the Shetland traditional music scene. Made up of three fiddlers — Ami Grains, Sinéad Jamieson, and Maisy Nicolson — alongside Stella Manson on piano, the group have been making quite a stir despite still being at school.
They’ve already clocked up plenty of miles across Shetland, starting out at the end of 2024 by performing at a range of high-profile events, including their debut supporting Rose Room in September 2025. The young lasses play a lot of styles ranging from traditional Scottish folk music to contemporary Shetland and American trad. Regular favourites at the Young Musicians events in the Mareel Café Bar, Laldy bring energy, skill, and a deep love of Shetland tradition to every performance.
This year marks their debut at the Shetland Folk Festival. Ami is no stranger to the festival, having been named Shetland Young Fiddler of the Year and Traditional Young Fiddler of the Year in 2025.
With talent, drive, and a growing reputation, Laldy are definitely a band to watch.
