Three dynamic young men who have dropped on to the Local Shetland Jazz and swing scene.
Jam Jar are all high school students who first met through the Shetland Youth Orchestra and officially formed in the summer of 2025. What began as a shared love of music quickly turned into something special.
The name “Jam Jar” is a playful nod to the band members themselves — J for Jan, A for Andrew and R for Ruben — and, of course, to the fact that they love to jam together (nothing to do with jars of jam… although they do bring plenty of sweetness to the stage!).
Despite their young age, they’ve already built an impressive performance résumé. They recently appeared at the Up Helly Aa Fiery Sessions, as well as performing at youth orchestra concerts and a range of local fundraising events.
Versatile, energetic and full of talent, Jam Jar bring their own fresh twist to jazz and swing standards, exploring a variety of styles with confidence and flair. We are absolutely delighted to welcome these three rising stars to this year’s festival.
