The Revellers
The Revellers are a seven-piece juggernaut that combine fiddle, mandolin and tenor banjo with heavy metal, punk and alternative rock rhythm sections. The end result is something which has been nicknamed by onlookers as “heavy folk music” or “viking metal”.
Praised for their energetic live shows and stage antics, they have been described as one of the most entertaining bands in the North. They were the first act to sell out Shetland’s multi-million pound music venue, Mareel, and the first to record in the venue’s studio with their debut album Renegades in 2013. While all members are based on the isles, they have played festivals and venues around the UK and Europe, and have performed with the likes of Big Country, The Levellers and The Dubliners so far.
The band released their second album Skeletons in 2016 with Tim Matthew (Lau/Mystery Juice) at the helm and cameo appearances from some of Shetland’s finest musicians, including Arthur Nicholson and Kris Drever, and Danish multi-intrumentalist, Perry Stenback. They sold out Lerwick’s Clickimin Centre for the album launch and recently led Shetland’s Hogmanay party at Mareel.
