Kansa

Kansa

Kansa have been entertaining audiences across Shetland since 2008 with their blend of Americana, bluegrass and roots music. Gathered around just one central microphone, the group’s line-up of fiddle, double bass, guitar and mandolin is fronted by two versatile female vocalists, who deliver stirring harmonies alongside tight instrumentals.

Hailing from well known Shetland musical families, the six-piece acoustic band is made up of instrumentalist brothers Adrian & Robert Wishart, vocalists Norma Wishart and
Karlyn Garrick, fiddler Lois Nicol and bass player Adam Priest.

Together their sound combines their shared love of acoustic and roots music from traditional bluegrass, to more modern Americana influences, through to their own original penned songs and tunes.

In recent years, they have worked hard on new material and arrangements, leading to the recording and release of their debut album, The RowanTree, in December 2018.  It has been an eagerly awaited album and we are delighted that Kansa are part of our local acts lineup once more.
